GMB Young Workers

GMB London Young Workers is an active forum for GMB members 30 years old or younger who live or work in London or the East of England.

We seek to build active participation of young members in GMB and in our communities, whether that's in their local branch, trades council and/or in this regional young members forum. We also campaign on a range of issues decided by our members, and in particular take pride in offering solidarity to working people everywhere and other marginalised groups. We also value the sense of community fostered by trade unionism and provide a place for young workers to connect socially, offering socials and jointly hosted events with other campaign groups.

London Young Workers is self-organised by GMB members and coordinated by an elected committee, chaired by Matthew Boyd. The committee meets regularly to discuss campaigns organised by ourselves and supported by our regional office. Committee meetings are regularly open for all London young workers to attend and participate in shaping the group's goals and priorities.

Following our upcoming AGM, we will be deciding our next priority campaign. If you have ideas for the priority campaign or want to be involved, you can come along to the AGM, open committee meetings or just get in touch via londonyoungworkers@gmbactivist.org.uk.

At the AGM we will also be accepting nominations for committee positions. Committee members attend regular committee meetings and each take on a specific role in organising our priority campaign. If you'd like to nominate or want more information about the positions available, email londonyoungworkers@gmbactivist.org.uk
