GMB to march on Saturday 30 September against cuts to services at Ealing and Charing Cross hospitals
GMB London to join march on Saturday 30 september 2017 to stop plans to close A&E services at Ealing and Charing Cross Hospitals
It is only with the strength of people power can we challenge and change the existing order of this government’s decimation of our NHS services says GMB London
GMB London will join the march on 30 September 2017 to stop plans to close A&E services at Ealing and Charing Cross hospitals which are under threat.
A&E’s are to close at Ealing and Charing Cross hospitals with maternity and children’s A&E wards already closed at Ealing hospital. More than 500 beds will be axed across the two sites leading to increased travel times to access vital health care and treatment.
The march will meet at Southall Park at 11am or Acton Park at 11.30am with the rally on Ealing Common starting at 1pm.
Taranjit Chana, GMB Ealing Branch Secretary said:
“The cutting of 500 beds and the proposed closure of Ealing and Charing Cross A&E will have a devastating impact upon the communities who live there. This government has shown no regard to the human impact this will have.
“The lack of these governments’ equality impact assessments of these cuts is telling, they don’t care for the communities who have been served by the A & E.
“We must all come out on Saturday 30th September 2017 in solidarity with all those who work in the NHS, for the communities who have been served by Ealing and Charing Cross A&E, and the NHS as a whole.
“It is only with the strength of people power can we challenge and change the existing order of this government’s decimation of our NHS services.
“We need a health service that provides access to all and not just the privileged.”
Dean Gilligan, GMB Rep said:
“The consequence of losing the blue light A&E in Ealing and Charing Cross does not bear thinking about.
A huge bulk of our membership are in high risk jobs and the security of them and their families of having blue light A&E services local to them is paramount.”
